Box Score PRESCOTT, Ariz. – Embry-Riddle scored at least one run in every inning but one as the Eagles opened play in the 2023 California Pacific Conference Softball Tournament with a 6-2 victory over Simpson. The top seed in the tournament, ERAU advances to play tomorrow against Westcliff. Sophomore Lily Anderson (Flagstaff, Ariz.) had a pair of hits and drove in two runs for Embry-Riddle.
Embry-Riddle picked up an unearned run in the first on an RBI ground out by senior Kate Delaney (Fort Collins, Colo.) and then made it 2-0 in the second when a pair of singles and a groundout put runners on second and third for freshman Anise Romo (Waddell, Ariz.) who lofted a sac fly to left to plate the run.
Freshman Autumn Sulusi (Kaneohe, Hawai'i) made it 3-0 in the third with an RBI single before Simpson would get on the board. The Redhawks got an inside the park home run in the top of the fourth to close to 3-1, but Anderson answered in the bottom half of the inning, following a base hit by sophomore Emma Almodoba (Tucson, Ariz.) with a home run that made it 5-1.
Freshman Claire Streeter (San Marino, Calif.) started for ERAU and made the early runs stand up, going all the way to pick up the victory in the circle. She gave up just one earned run and four hits over her seven innings of work, striking out three.
