Box Score Lancaster, Calif. - Embry-Riddle went 3-0 on their Southern California Conference road trip as they swept the University of Antelope Valley in Lancaster on Saturday.
The first set of the night was the closest as ERAU won 25-19 as the Eagles hit .343. Dalia Haase (Tucson, Ariz.) continued to lead ERAU as she had six kills in the first set and finished the night with ten. UAV kept the set close and actually led 9-7 but Embry-Riddle took the lead on an error by the Pioneers, a Haase kill and a kill by Katie Rolle (Missoula, Mont.). Once ERAU got in front, UAV was unable to catch up as the Eagles got back to back kills by Kelly Hansen (El Dorado Hills, Calif.) to pull away to a 17-13 lead and Embry-Riddle cruised on to win the set and take a 1-0 lead in the match.
Emma Barber (Goodyear, Ariz.) had a kill to start set 2 and give the Eagles a lead early. UAV and ERAU traded points until Embry-Riddle went on an 8-1 run and a 14-7 lead. ERAU got kills from Barber, Haase, and Hansen on their run. Despite a few Eagle errors, Embry-Riddle closed the set 25-15 on a kill by Rolle.
Antelope Valley rolled out to a 3-0 lead to start the final set of the night, but the Eagles got points back right away on a kill from Alexsandra Rodriguez (Phoenix, Ariz.) and back to back kills by Hannah Clear (Fort Worth, Texas) gave ERAU a 7-4 lead. Rodriguez finished the set with four kills as she hit .333 for the match. Once Embry-Riddle got ahead, they didn't look back as they went on a long 10-3 scoring run. During the run, Hailey Ching (Honolulu, Hawaii) had a service ace and Hansen added two kills. ERAU won the set 25-13 and the match 3-0.
Embry-Riddle returns home as they play Benedictine Mesa on Friday afternoon at 3pm in the Eagle Gym.
