Box Score Embry-Riddle beat the Simpson University Redhawks 5-0 at Eagle Softball Field on Thursday morning to advance to the California Pacific Conference Championship which will take place Friday at 11am.
Eagle pitcher Vanessa Brink (Vail, Ariz.) once again pitched a gem as she pitched six innings giving up just two hits and striking out 10. Claire Streeter (San Mario, Calif.) closed out the game pitching a clean 7th inning.
Both pitchers were dueling until ERAU was able to get to the Simpson starter in the 5th inning. Maddie Judge (Oro Valley, Ariz.) led off the top of the inning with a single. Leah Salas (Sahuarita, Ariz.) followed with a double off the left field fence. Two batters later, Kate Delaney (Fort Collins, Colo.) hit a three run homerun to give Embry-Riddle a 3-0 lead.
ERAU added insurance runs in the 6th inning. Meredith Tutrone (Scottsdale, Ariz.) led off with a single. Judge followed with another single and then Diana Miranda Montano (Tucson, Ariz.) cleared the bases with a double and the Eagles went on to win 5-0.
Embry-Riddle will play in the Cal Pac Championship game Friday at 11am at Eagle Softball Field.
