Box Score PRESCOTT, ARIZ. – A pair of lightning delays pushed the Embry-Riddle men's soccer game nearly three hours back on Saturday, setting a weird tone for the entire game. The Eagles gave up a goal in the final 30 seconds of the first half, but were able to use a second half push for a 2-1 victory over Antelope Valley.
A non-stop Embry-Riddle offensive attack finally paid off in the 52nd minute, as Alex Frances scored his fifth goal of the game for the contest's equalizer. It was a great play that was started in the back by Ryan Doyle, who got the ball to Aviad Golan, and set up Frances for the tally.
The Eagles kept the pressure up, and took the lead 20 minutes later. Great patience by the Eagles allowed Frances and Djougher Oliveira to set up Lucas Garcia for his second goal of the week.
Embry-Riddle had 21 shots on the night, with 16 of those coming in the second half. The Eagles also had 10 shots on goal, and put nine of those on net in the final 45 minutes.
ERAU is now the only team without a loss in Cal Pac play. While a great offensive push in the second half propelled the Eagles, Elias Ammon made four saves and Embry-Riddle played well defensively to keep the Pioneers to just one goal.
The Eagles will wrap up its three-game homestand with a match against Park-Gilbert on Thursday, October 6. Kickoff from Varsity Field is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
