FRESNO, CALIF. – For the eighth consecutive season, the Embry-Riddle women's cross country team earned the Cal Pac Championship. The Eagles took eight of the top ten spots on the individual leaderboard, and paced over a full minute better than the second place team.
The eight-fastest times in the conference this season were all performed at the Cal Pac Championship on Friday, and six of those finished belonged to ERAU runners. The Eagles also had all of its athletes finish inside the top 25 of a 61-runner field.
Josey Gregory won the individual Cal Pac Championship, crossing the finish line at 18:21.10. It is the seventh consecutive year an Eagle has earned Cal Pac Runner of the Year, and Gregory also turned in the best time of any conference runner so far this season on Friday.
Makenna Bray was the next finisher, as she placed second with a time of 18:36.79. Just over three seconds later, Josephine Banks came across, placing third with a time of 18:39.21.
Bones Parker and Kamryn Hoehne finished 2.01 seconds apart from each other as the pair took sixth and seventh, respectively. Parker finished at 19:21.59, and Hoehne crossed at 19:23.60.
Savannah Ganter, Maria Carlson and Tiffany Terry all turned in great performances in their first trip to the Cal Pac Championships. Ganter (19:28.43) finished eighth, Carlson (19:39.25) finished ninth and Terry (19:43.78) finished tenth.
Skylar Cooney was the next ERAU finisher, posting a time of 20:12.8 for 13th place. Lizzie Simon finished four spots later at 17, crossing the finish at 20:45.59.
Emma Lewis-Williams was the next runner to post a time after Simon, coming across at 21:07.12 for 18th place. The final ERAU runner to finish was Alice McKean, who finished 23rd with a time of 21:49.37.
Gregory, on top of earning Cal Pac Runner of the Year, was also named to the All-Cal Pac First Team. Bray, Banks, Parker and Hoehne joined her on the First Team, while Ganter and Carlson earned All-Cal Pac Second Team honors.
The Eagles have now qualified for the NAIA National Championships, which will take place on Friday, November 18 in Tallahassee, Fla.
