Box Score COSTA MESA, CALIF. – The Embry-Riddle baseball team looked to build momentum off its win over Arizona Christian on Tuesday, but things did not go as planned on Friday afternoon. The 13th-ranked Vanguard Lions got on the Eagles early, and never looked back, as ERAU fell 18-2 in the first game of a three-game set.
Travis Strickler hit a solo home run in the top of the first inning to get the Eagles off to a good start, especially with their ace on the mound. Strickler's blast would end up being the only run ERAU would score until the eighth inning, when Kevin Fedoruk singled home Luke Jepsen.
The Eagles did get seven hits and nine baserunners in total on Friday, as they battled hard while the game was still in reach. Fedoruk led the way with a pair of hits, and six different players earned a knock on the day.
Embry-Riddle will play the final two games of the series on Saturday as the team gets its final doubleheader before conference play begins. First pitch from Dean Harvey Field is scheduled for 11 a.m. AZ Time.
