Eagles Blast Six Home Runs, 27 Hits in Midweek Victory

PRESCOTT, ARIZ. – The Embry-Riddle baseball team showed off with the bats on Tuesday, scoring 21 runs on 26 hits in a non-conference victory over OUAZ. The 21-15 victory saw the Eagles hit six home runs, six double, and a triple in the team's most productive effort at the plate this season.

The Eagles hit five of its six round-trippers in the fifth inning, where ERAU scored nine to pull way out in front. Owen Cain, Blake Moore, Travis Strickler, Roberto Garza-Nunez and Luke Jepsen all homered in the inning, and seven of the team's nine hits in the frame were of the extra-base variety.

Following the nine-run inning, the Eagles scored six more in the sixth to get a 21-4 lead. Calvin Solie missed a home run by inches for a lead off triple, but the next hitter, Jacob Aguirre, got one over the fence on for ERAU's sixth home run of the game.

Every Eagle to record an at bat also had a hit, and nine different players turned in multi-hit performances. Solie led the way with four hits from top of the order, with Cain and Kevin Fedoruk each having three knocks.

Jepsen had the most RBI for Embry-Riddle on Tuesday, driving in four during the afternoon's contest. Cain, Moore and Fedoruk each drove in three, and Solie and Garza-Nunez had a pair of RBI.

Eagle pitching struck out 12 Spirit batters during the day as ten different pitchers got a chance to shine. Dayne Pengelly, Tanner Moran, Blake Kaplan and Michael Arnold all had scoreless outings, and combined for five strikeouts without a walk between those four arms.

The Eagles will get back on the field to start an important series as the Cal Pac Tournament field begins to shape up. The first game of a three-game set against Marymount California is on Friday, April 22 at 2 p.m.
