Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

PRESCOTT, ARIZ. – In the program's first season of play, the Embry-Riddle baseball team clinched its spot in the Cal Pac Tournament with a doubleheader sweep of Park-Gilbert on Friday afternoon. In an emotional day filled with ejections, controversial plays, and exciting action, the Eagles accomplished a program goal in year one.

Game 1: Embry-Riddle 16, Park-Gilbert 5 (7 Innings)

The Eagles earned its third run-rule conference victory in four Cal Pac games, and scored 14 of its 16 runs in two innings. Embry-Riddle jumped out to a 5-0 lead after the first inning, and posted nine runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to pull away.

After Robert-Garza Nunez started the game's scoring with a RBI single, Luke Jepsen tripled home a pair to give ERAU a 3-0 lead. Josh Beattie added two more in that first frame, homering to center field for an excellent jump start Embry-Riddle needed.

Garza-Nunez struck again during the massive fourth inning, smashing a grand slam during the nine-run effort from the Eagles. Jepsen went back-to-back with Garza-Nunez, hitting a solo home run right after his teammate.

Travis Strickler finished a double shy of the cycle, and had an important two-RBI triple during the fourth. Strickler also hit a bomb in the second inning, answering Park-Gilbert's first run of the game in the top half of the frame.

Four different Eagle players had multi-RBI games during offensive onslaught. Josh Beattie drove in a pair, Strickler and Jepsen each had three, and Garza-Nunez brought in a game-high five runs.

Mitchell Mussler earned yet another complete game win, and his ninth win of the season on Friday is the most in the Cal Pac. Mussler struck out six as he held the Buccaneers to give Embry-Riddle a good opportunity to clinch a postseason spot later in the afternoon.

Game 2: Embry-Riddle 10, Park-Gilbert 5

In a game that had a playoff-like atmosphere, the two teams fought back and forth in the final game of the afternoon. The Buccaneers pulled within a run on two separate occasions, but the Eagles had timely hits to wrap up the game.

Embry-Riddle scored the game's first four runs, grabbing a 4-0 lead with runs in each of the first three innings. Garza-Nunez slapped another home run, this time of the solo variety as a part of a two-run opening frame.

Carson Ramocinski had a RBI single in the second to take advantage of a Park-Gilbert error, then Luke Jepsen scored on a balk in the third. Ramocinski had another RBI single in the sixth, and important one after the Buccaneers cut the ERAU lead to 4-3.

After Park-Gilbert pulled the score to 6-5, Embry-Riddle scored four insurance runs in the eighth to make the final inning a little easier. The Eagles took advantage of another error again, and Sean Boskovich had the big hit thanks to his two-RBI single.

Cole Altherr earned his first career save, getting the final four outs to get Embry-Riddle into the postseason. Altherr had a strikeout in the ninth, and got the Eagles out of a high-pressure situation with runners on in the bottom of the eighth.

After having his hitting streak snapped in the day's first game, Moore posted a 3-for-4 performance with an RBI. Strickler, Ramocinski and Owen Cain each had two hits, and the Eagles banged out 15 knocks in the day's final contest.

The Eagles will have one final game to wrap up the regular season, as they host Park-Gilbert again on Sunday morning. First pitch from the ERAU Baseball Field is scheduled for 11 a.m.
