Eagles End Regular Season With Victory

Box Score

PRESCOTT, ARIZ. – The Embry-Riddle baseball team wrapped up its regular season with a 20-14 victory over Park-Gilbert on Sunday, gaining momentum as the Eagles toward the Cal Pac Tournament. Not only did ERAU take the series sweep over the Buccaneers, but the Eagles kept PUG out of the conference tournament with the three wins over the weekend.

The Eagles trailed early in the must-win game for the opponent, falling behind 6-1 through two-and-a-half innings. Embry-Riddle answered with six runs in the bottom of the third to take a 7-6 lead, never relinquishing it.

Embry-Riddle took advantage of four Park-Gilbert errors to score the six runs in the third. Owen Cain and Kevin Fedoruk did each have RBI doubles with a Brandon Todd RBI single sandwiched in between.

ERAU followed up the impressive third frame by scoring eight more runs in the fourth inning. Blake Moore slammed a three-run home run during the inning, and Luke Jepsen added runs seven and eight of the fourth with his two-out two-RBI home run.

Park-Gilbert battled back in the late stages of the game, scoring runs in each of the final five innings. The Eagles had one more big inning to put the game away, scoring five more in the eighth to take a 20-11 lead.

Carson Ramocinski had a two-RBI triple down the left field line to start the scoring in the Eagles half of the eighth, then Roberto Garza-Nunez and Jepsen each had RBI doubles. Jepsen eventually came around to score on a wild pitch for ERAU's 20th run of the afternoon.

All nine Embry-Riddle batters in the starting lineup earned at least a hit, and eight of those player had at least two hits. Calvin Solie had three hits from the leadoff position, and scored on each of those knocks.

The Eagles will now travel to Mesa, Ariz. to participate in the 2022 Cal Pac Tournament. Embry-Riddle is slotted as the four seed, and will take on fifth-seeded Marymount California on Wednesday morning, with first pitch from Hohokam Stadium scheduled for 9 a.m.
