Box Score

Two goals from set pieces provided all the offense Embry-Riddle needed as they beat the Park-Gilbert University Buccaneers 2-0 tonight in Mesa.

It was a back and forth first half, with the Eagles having five shots and Park-Gilbert four.  Francesco Busini (Velletri, Rome, Italy) struck first for Embry-Riddle.  In the 29th minute, an ERAU player was taken down on the left side of the field.  Lucas Garcia (Barcelona, Spain) stepped up to take the free kick and played in across the box.  Busini found himself open in front of the goal and tapped it in to give the Eagles the 1-0 lead.  Embry-Riddle went into the half up 1-0.

As the game wore on, the pace picked up.  In a similar situation to how the first goal was scored for ERAU, a Buccaneer was called for a foul along the right sideline.  Roei Nir (Tel Aviv, Israel) took the free kick this time and found Garcia on the other end to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead in the 67th minute.

Elias Ammon (Bremen, Germany) made three saves in goal to earn the shutout.

Embry-Riddle will now wait and watch the rest of the Cal Pac games on Saturday to see if they will be the #2 seed or the #3 seed in the upcoming conference tournament.  The Eagles will be the #2 seed with a UC Merced tie or loss and earn a bye to the semifinals on November 9th.  If UC Merced wins, ERAU will be the #3 seed and play at home on Saturday, November 4th
