Box Score GLENDALE, Ariz. – Arizona Christian scored six runs over the first two innings and held Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Ariz.) to just three hits as the Firestorm scored an 8-1 win over the Eagles in a non-conference baseball game.
Arizona Christian (17-9) used the long ball to jump out to an early lead as a three-run home run in the bottom of the first gave the Firestorm an early 4-0 advantage. ACU scored two more in the second to go up 6-0 and Embry-Riddle (7-14) could not get back into it.
Embry-Riddle was held without a hit until there were two-out in the fifth when junior Sean Boskovich (Chino Hills, Calif.) doubled. The Eagles took advantage of the opportunity when junior Gavin Speck (Danville, Calif.) followed with a single to put the run on the board.
That would be all that Embry-Riddle could muster, however, as the Eagles were held to just a leadoff single in the eighth by freshman Miles Murphy (Goodyear, Ariz.). Arizona Christian added a pair of insurance runs in the bottom of the eight to close out the scoring.
Junior Zach Sharp (Olympia, Wash.), sophomore Zack Bauer (Covina, Calif.), junior Tanner Moran (Mililani, Hawai'i), and junior Alec Hagopian (Danville, Calif.) all came out of the bullpen for ERAU and did not allow a run, with Bauer tossing two innings of hitless relief, striking out three.
