COVINA, Calif. – A six-run second inning that featured a three-run home run by junior Drew Barragan (Trabuco Canyon, Calif.) broke open a scoreless game as the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Ariz.) baseball team used the momentum to go on a take a 13-2 victory over Providence Christian. Junior Mitchell Mussler (Clearwater, Fla.) started on the hill for the Eagles and tossed five innings of shutout ball to pick up the pitching decision.

A pair of walks and a single started the second for Embry-Riddle. Freshman Miles Murphy (Goodyear, Ariz.) and junior Calvin Solie (Buckeye, Ariz.) followed with walks to bring home the first two runs of the game. Senior Travis Strickler (Glendale, Ariz.) then lofted a sac fly to center to plate another before Barragan completed uprising with his home run that gave the Eagles six runs on just two hits.

That was all the run support that Mussler would need as he gave up just four hits over his five innings, striking out a pair. Embry-Riddle went on to take a 10-0 lead before Providence Christian could get a run on the board.

Barragan struck again in the eighth inning, slamming a two-run home run to put the Eagles up 12-1. Junior Blake Moore (San Ramon, Calif.) followed with a solo shot that made it 13-1, leaving the Sea Beggars the task of scoring two runs in the bottom half of the inning to keep the game going. Providence Christian got one, but that was it as the game ended after eight due to the 10-run rule.
