PRESCOTT, Ariz. – Embry-Riddle pounded out 20 hits and scored 13 runs, the fifth straight game with 10+ runs, as the Eagles took a midweek baseball contest over Ottawa (Ariz.), 13-11. Senior Travis Strickler (Glendale, Ariz.) continued his torrid hitting, going 4-for-5 with three RBIs for EARU.

After a first inning run gave it the early lead, Embry-Riddle jumped on Ottawa pitching for eight runs in the second to take an early commanding lead. The Eagles loaded the bases on a walk, a single, and an error for junior Calvin Solie (Buckeye, Ariz.) who singled to center for a pair of runs. With two away the Eagles picked up four straight hits to complete the uprising. Strickler and with junior Roberto Garza-Nunez (Salinas, Calif.) started with run scoring singles, with junior Jacob Aguirre (La Verne, Calif.) following with an RBI double. Junior Blake Moore (San Ramon, Calif.) wrapped up the scoring with a two-run home run.

Ottawa did not go quietly and came back to tied the game with two in the third, five in the fourth, and another pair in the fifth, with the Spirit picking up a grand slam in the fourth. Moore put the Eagles back on top, this time for good, with an RBI single in the sixth. Three more came across in the seventh, two on a single by Strickler, and it proved to be enough.

Ottawa picked up runs in the eighth and ninth, but ERAU was able to hang on for the win.
