Box Score PRESCOTT, Ariz. – Embry-Riddle unleashed a 16-hit attack that produced 15 runs and got some solid starting pitching that resulted in a 15-0 win over Park-Gilbert in the opening game of a three-game California Pacific Conference baseball series. Junior Jacob Aguirre (La Verne, Calif.) had a pair of home runs and drove in six for the Eagles.
Embry-Riddle got off to a good start in the first when with junior Roberto Garza-Nunez (Salinas, Calif.) slammed a two-run home run, the first of four round trippers for the Eagles on the day. That turned out to be all that ERAU starter, junior Cole Altherr (Tucson, Ariz.) would need as he held Park in check for six innings, allowing five hits and three walks while striking out nine Buccaneers.
A five-run second inning, highlighted by a grand slam by junior Drew Barragan (Trabuco Canyon, Calif.), pushed the Embry-Riddle lead to 7-0. The Eagles put the game away with four in the fourth and four more in the sixth that gave them the win in seven innings. Aguirre hit his first home run of the game in the fourth, a three-run shot, and then duplicated that in the sixth to complete his six-RBI day and put the finishing touches on the victory. Junior Parker Cadacio (Cypress, Calif.) finished off the game on the mound for EARU, striking out the side in the seventh.
