Box Score SURPRISE, Ariz. – Embry-Riddle scored five runs in the first inning and never looked back as the Eagles continued a recent offensive tear, taking a 14-0 victory over Ottawa (AZ). ERAU's pitching was just as impressive as the offense as five hurlers led the Spirit to just a pair of hits in the eight-inning affair. Junior Drew Barragan (Trabuco Canyon, Calif.) hit a pair of home runs and drove in four for Embry-Riddle, which won its seventh consecutive game.
Barragan put the Eagles on top early after the first two hitters of the game reached, swatting his first home run of the night to left for a quick 3-0 lead. Junior Luke Jepsen (Temecula, Calif.) added an RBI double and junior Kevin Fedoruk (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.) an RBI groundout to finish the inning.
From there it was all Embry-Riddle as the Eagles' pitching kept OUAZ in check all night. Sophomore Eric Schumann (Mission Viejo, Calif.) started and set the tone over his three innings of work, giving up just a walk to the Spirit. Four other pitchers followed and as a staff they allowed just two hits and a pair of walks while striking out eight.
Embry-Riddle put it away with four more in the third, with junior Kevin Fedoruk (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.) singling in a pair and freshman Miles Murphy (Goodyear, Ariz.) tripling in another and scoring on an error.
Barragan added his second round tripper, a solo shot, in the fourth to make it 10-0. Juniors Owen Cain (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.), Josh Beattie (Lakewood, Colo.), and Gavin Speck (Danville, Calif.) all had RBI singles in the sixth as the Eagles closed it out.
