Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Embry-Riddle's bats erupted in the double header sweep of La Sierra as the Eagles scored 37 runs on 32 hits at Eagle Baseball Field in Prescott on Thursday afternoon.

ERAU won game one 22-10 in 8 innings and followed it up with a 15-2 7 inning win over the Golden Eagles.

Game 1

After giving up five runs in the top of the first inning, Embry-Riddle came back to score nine in the bottom half of the inning.

Travis Strickler (Glendale, Ariz.) led off the inning with a solo homerun, his first of three hits during the game.  Following Strickler, Javier Izaguirre Jr. (Riverside, Calif.) was hit by a pitch.  Drew Barragan (Trabuco Canyon, Calif.) then doubled to centerfield to score Kaden Menard (Meridan, Idaho) who had come in to courtesy run for Izaguirre, Jr. Jacob Aguirre (La Verne, Calif.) and Luke Jepsen (Temecula, Calif.) then hit back to back singles and Barragan was able to score on Jepsen's to make the score 5-3 in favor of La Sierra.  Calvin Solie (Buckeye, Ariz.) and Miles Murphy (Goodyear, Ariz.) both were able to reach on errors and Aguirre scored on an overthrow.  After Strickler got another hit in the inning, this time a single, Solie scored and the Eagles took a 6-5.  Just like his first at bat, Izaguirre Jr. was hit by another pitch to load the bases.  Three Eagles scored on another double from Barragan and at the end of one inning, Embry-Riddle led 9-5.

The Golden Eagles added a run in the second inning, another in the 3rd, and three in the fourth as they retook the lead at 10-9.

After Jesse Kaphing (Phoenix, Ariz.) sat down La Sierra in order in the top of the 5th, ERAU scored four runs in the bottom of the inning as the Eagles led 14-10 after five innings of play.  Blake Moore (San Ramon, Calif.) led off the bottom of the 5th with a single to right field followed a single from Murphy.  After Strickler walked, Izaguirre Jr. was also walked and Moore scored.  With the bases still loaded, all Eagle runners advanced a base on a passed ball and Barragan picked up his 5th RBI of the game on a sac fly to right field.  Aguirre knocked in Menard on his second single of the game and give ERAU the three run lead.

Embry-Riddle added four more runs in the bottom of the 6th inning.  Owen Cain (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) led off with a solo homerun followed by another single by Moore.  Solie was hit by a pitch and then Murphy singled to load the bases.  Izaguirre, Jr. reached first on an error that scored Moore and kept the bases loaded.  The next two Eagles, Barragan and Aguirre were walked to score two more runs for ERAU and the inning ended with Embry-Riddle leading 17-10.

After the Eagles added one run in the bottom of the 7th, Moore ended the game in the 8th on a walk off grand slam for ERAU to win by the run rule 22-10.

Strickler finished the game 3-5 with three RBIs, Barragan was 2-4 with two doubles and six RBIs, Aguirre was 3-4, and Moore finished 4-6 with 4 RBIs.

Kaphing earned the win pitching five strong innings giving up just two hits to the Golden Eagles and striking out five.

Game 2

In game two, it was Embry-Riddle who scored first as Strickler started the game off with a triple and scored just one batter later on a single from Murphy.  Murphy scored on a single from Jepsen and ERAU led 2-0 after the first inning.

Mitchell Mussler (Clearwater, Fla.) struck out three La Sierra batters in the top of the second inning and the Eagles added four runs in the bottom half of the inning.  Cain led off the inning with a walk and then Kevin Fedoruk (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.) hit his first of two, two run homeruns to double the ERAU lead and make the score 4-0.  Moore continued his good day at the plate on a single and advanced to second on a wild pitch, and third on a passed ball. Barragan's third double of the day brought in two more runs and after two, ERAU led 6-0.

The Golden Eagles got two runs back in the top of the 3rd inning to make the score 6-2.

After LSU went down 1-2-3 in the 4th, Gavin Botts (Lake Forest, Calif.) walked and scored on Strickler's second triple of the game.  Strickler scored another run on a groundout by Murphy and after 4 innings, the Eagles led 8-2.

Fedoruk hit his second two run homerun of the game in the bottom of the 5th and Embry-Riddle added five more runs in the bottom of the 6th for their second run rule win of the day as ERAU won 15-2.

Mussler earned the win as he scattered four hits and struck out ten in six innings of work. Parker Cadacio (Cypress, Calif.) pitched well in relief striking out two batters in his inning.

Embry-Riddle and La Sierra will play another double header tomorrow with the first game beginning at 11am.
