Box Score 2 Embry-Riddle and The Masters University played two more games Saturday afternoon and the Mustangs came out on top of both 10-3 and 5-3 in California.
Game 1
Embry-Riddle finished the game with nine hits, but was unable to string many together in the 10-3 loss to The Master's University.
The Mustangs scored two runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning when they hit a homerun. TMU held a 2-0 lead until the top of the 5th inning.
In the top of the 5th, ERAU was able to get on the board. Miles Murphy (Goodyear, Ariz.) led off the inning with a double and moved over to third on the throw from left field. Gavin Botts (Lake Forest, Calif.) followed with his second single of the game and Murphy scored to bring the score to 2-1. Javier Izaguirre (Riverside, Calif.) then hit a single and stole second. The Eagles loaded the bases with a Travis Strickler (Glendale, Ariz.) walk. Embry-Riddle scored two runs when Roberto Garza-Nunez (Salinas, Calif.) hit a single and ERAU led 3-2 after the top of the 5th.
The Master's University scored three runs in the bottom of the 5th, added three more in the bottom of the 6th, and two in the bottom of the 7th on their way to the win.
Cole Altherr (Tucson, Ariz.) only gave up three hits and struck out nine batters in his start for the Eagles today.
Game 2
The second game of the double header was a close battle but the Mustangs came away with another win, this time 5-3.
TMU started with a two run home-run in the first inning, but ERAU was able to tie it up in the top of the 2nd. Javier Izaguirre Jr. (Riverside, Calif.) and Gavin Speck (Danville, Calif.) both were walked to put runners on first and second. Miles Murphy (Goodyear, Ariz) hit a single and both runners were able to score on an error to tie the game at 2-2.
The Mustangs hit two more homeruns in the bottom of the 5th inning to retake the lead a 4-2.
Embry-Riddle answered with one run in the top of the six as Kevin Fedoruk (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.) was knocked in by Calvin Solie (Buckeye, Ariz.) but that was all the Eagles could not complete the comeback.
