Box Score Embry-Riddle was down 3-1 to Simpson University in Redding on Friday afternoon, but the Eagles scored four runs in the top of the 8th inning on their way to their 5-3 win.
ERAU scored first in the top of the 1st inning as Travis Strickler (Glendale, Ariz.) led off with a triple and scored on a sacrifice fly by Javier Izaguirre Jr. (Riverside, Calif.).
Simpson scored two runs in the bottom of the third inning and added another in the 6th as they held a 3-1 lead late in the game.
In the top of the 8th inning, Embry-Riddle scored four runs on just two hits. Strickler led off with a walk followed by Izaguirre Jr. reaching when he was hit by a pitch. A single by Drew Barragan (Trabuco Canyon, Calif.) brought the Eagles within one run with the score 3-2. Roberto Garza-Nunez (Salinas, Calif.) was then walked to load the bases. A sac fly by Luke Jepsen (Temecula, Calif.) tied the score at 3-3. Owen Cain (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) hit a deep double to left field that both runners on base were able to score on and Embry-Riddle took the 5-3 lead.
ERAU was able to keep Simpson off the scoreboard as the Eagles picked up another Cal Pac victory.
Cole Altherr (Tucson, Ariz.) started the game for the Eagles and pitched a strong seven innings. Jonah Montes (Upland, Calif.) earned the save giving up just one hit in his two innings of work.
Embry-Riddle and Simpson will play a double header tomorrow with the first game beginning at 12pm.
