Box Score Embry-Riddle beat Arizona Christian by a score of 7-6 on Tuesday night in Glendale at Greenway High School.
Drew Barragan (Trabuco Canyon, Calif.) put ERAU on top right away in the top of the 1st inning as he blasted a three run homerun. Travis Strickler (Glendale, Ariz.) led off the inning with a single up the middle followed by a single by Javier Izaguirre Jr. (Riverside, Calif.). With runners on first and third, Barragan hit the ball over the fence in left center as Embry-Riddle took the 3-0 lead.
ACU answered with one run in their half of the inning, but the Eagles extended their lead again in the top of the 3rd. Barragan led off with a double and then with one out, Luke Jepsen (Temecula, Calif.) hit a double of his own to make the score 4-1. Jepsen came around to score on a wild pitch and put ERAU up 5-1.
The Firestorm scored three runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning on three hits and then scored two more runs in the bottom of the 5th inning as they took their first lead of the day making the score 6-5.
In the top of the 7th inning, Embry-Riddle tied the score again at 6-6 as Barragan hit his second homerun of the game.
ERAU scored in again in the top of the 9th inning. Strickler hit a double to left center and then Barragan was intentionally walked to put runners on first and second base. Both runners moved up 90 feet on a passed ball and Strickler scored on an RBI single by Roberto Garza-Nunez (Salinas, Calif.).
Eric Schumann (Mission Viejo, Calif.) started the game and pitched a strong four innings. Zach Sharp (Olympia, Wash.) and Tanner Moran (Mililani, Hawaii) each threw a clean inning and Jonah Montes (Upland, Calif.) earned the save in the win.
Embry-Riddle will play SAGU AIC tomorrow in Prescott at 3pm in a non-conference matchup.
