Box Score On Senior day at Eagle Baseball Field, Embry-Riddle earned the three game sweep of Providence Christian with an 18-8 walk off win in the 7th inning.
A Travis Strickler (Glendale, Ariz.) homerun to begin the game, gave ERAU the early 1-0 lead. After Roberto Garza-Nunez (Salinas, Calif.) walked two batters later, Luke Jepsen (Temecula, Calif.) drove him home with a double. After an inning, Embry-Riddle led 2-0.
In the bottom of the second inning, Blake Moore (San Ramon, Calif.) reached 1st after being hit by a pitch. A double by Miles Murphy (Goodyear, Ariz.) and a walk by Strickler then loaded the bases. Calvin Solie (Buckeye, Ariz.) hit a sacrifice fly to bring home Moore and make the score 3-0.
Jepsen led off the bottom of the 3rd inning with a solo homerun over the left field fence. Following Jepsen, Kevin Fedoruk (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.) was walked, Moore was hit by another pitch, and Murphy was walked to load up the bases. Strickler earned another RBI as he was hit by a pitch to move everyone up a base. A single by Solie plated Moore and Murphy and with runners on first and second, Drew Barragan (Trabuco Canyon, Calif.) added to his NAIA leading RBI total. Barragan cleared the bases with a double and put the Eagles up 9-2.
Each team added a run in the fourth inning and both were held scoreless in the 5th. As the game headed into the 6th inning, Embry-Riddle led 10-3.
Providence Christian scored four runs in the top of the 6th to make the score 10-7, but the Eagles answered with three runs of their own in the bottom half. Murphy and Strickler were both walked to begin the inning and a double by Gavin Botts (Lake Forest, Calif.) brought home Murphy. Barragan then hit another double to plate Strickler and Botts and make the score 13-7.
After the Seabeggars scored one run on a solo homerun in the top of the 7th, ERAU walked off the game in the bottom half by run rule. Sawyer Amato (Littleton, Colo.) had two hits in the inning and hit the walk off triple that scored Botts giving ERAU the 18-8 win.
Embry-Riddle will have one more home game against the Firestorm of Arizona Christian on Wednesday before the Eagles head to the Cal Pac tournament.
