Box Score Embry-Riddle and Arizona Christian went back and forth at Eagle Baseball Field on Wednesday afternoon with the Firestorm taking the game from the Eagles 12-11.
After going down 4-0 in the top of the first inning, ERAU answered with one run in the bottom of the 1st. Travis Strickler (Glendale, Ariz.) led off with a double and came around to score on a double by Javier Izaguirre Jr. (Riverside, Calif.).
In the 2nd inning, ACU scored three more runs to take a 7-1 lead.
Embry-Riddle was able to plate three runs in the 4th inning to get back into the game. Drew Barragan (Trabuco Canyon, Calif.) led off the inning with a walk. The next batter Roberto Garza-Nunez (Salinas, Calif.) hit a homerun to make the score 7-3. With one out, Kevin Fedoruk (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.) hit a solo homerun and after four innings of play the score was 7-4 Firestorm.
The Eagles took the lead in the bottom of the 5th inning. Miles Murphy (Goodyear, Ariz.) started the inning with a double. Strickler then singled and a double by Barragan brought home Murphy. With runners at 1st and 3rd, a double by Garza-Nunez scored both Strickler and Barragan to tie up the game 7-7. ERAU took an 8-7 lead on a single by Fedoruk.
The lead didn't last long as Arizona Christian plated two runs in the top of the 6th to go up 9-8.
Embry-Riddle tied the game back up in the bottom of the 6th, but ACU took the lead for good with four runs in the top of the 7th as the Firestorm won the game 12-11.
ERAU will play again on May 1st in the Cal Pac Conference Tournament in Mesa. The Eagles will be the #2 seed and will take on the #3 seed Redhawks of Simpson University.
