Box Score Embry-Riddle dropped a 6-4 non-conference game to OUAZ on Wednesday evening at Surprise Stadium.
In the top of the 1st inning, Drew Barragan (Trabuco Canyon, Calif.) hit a homerun to left center to give ERAU the 1-0 lead.
The Eagles added another run in the top of the 5th inning as Miles Murphy (Goodyear, Ariz.) came around to score on a passed ball after he reached on a fielder's choice.
The Embry-Riddle pitching staff held OUAZ scoreless until the bottom of the 5th inning. Eric Schumann (Mission Viejo, Calif.) earned the start for the Eagles and pitched 4.2 innings. The Spirit scored four runs when they finally broke through and took a 4-2 advantage.
ERAU answered right away in the top of the 6th with two runs to tie the score at 4-4. Blake Moore (San Ramon, Calif.) was hit by a pitch and advanced to third on a double by Gavin Botts (Lake Forest, Calif.). Murphy then laced a triple down the left field line to score both runners and tie up the score.
OUAZ took a 6-4 lead in the bottom of the 7th on a two run triple and the Spirit held on for the 6-4 win.
Embry-Riddle will play a three game series at Westcliff in Irvine, Calif. this weekend with the first game beginning Friday, April 12th at 11am.
