#6 Royals Sweep Eagles in Doubleheader

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Hope International's bats proved to be too much for Embry-Riddle as the Royals swept the Eagles on Friday winning the first game 13-4 followed by a 16-4 win in the second game at Eagle Baseball Field.  

Game 1

Game Highlights:

  • Early Struggles: The Royals took an early lead, scoring three runs in the first inning, including a home run by A. Bartee. Embry-Riddle responded with a run in the bottom of the first, thanks to an RBI single by Roberto Garza-Nunez.

  • Offensive Power: Hope International continued to dominate offensively, adding two runs in the third inning and three more in the fourth. J. Chavez hit two home runs, driving in four runs for the Royals.

  • Eagles' Efforts: Embry-Riddle showed resilience, scoring two runs in the third inning. Garza-Nunez delivered a clutch two-RBI single, bringing home Caden Truman and Kaden Menard.

  • Pitching Challenges: Embry-Riddle's pitchers faced difficulties against Hope International's powerful lineup. Jesse Kaphing started the game, pitching five innings and allowing ten runs. Reliever Parker Cadacio pitched well giving up zero runs in two innings of work.  

  • Final Push: In the ninth inning, Embry-Riddle attempted a comeback. Connor Rosinski hit a solo home run to left field, but the Eagles couldn't close the gap.

  • R. Garza-Nun: Garza-Nun led the Eagles' offense with three RBIs, including two crucial hits.
  • C. Rosinski: Rosinski showcased his power with a solo home run and a stolen base.
  • K. Nelson: Nelson contributed with two hits, including a double, and displayed solid defense in center field.
Game 2
  • Early Lead for Hope International: The Royals jumped to an early lead in the first inning with a two-run homer by J. Francois, scoring A. Bartee who had walked. This set the tone for the game as Hope International continued to build on their lead.
  • Embry-Riddle's Response: The Eagles managed to get on the board in the third inning. Blake Moore singled to right field, followed by a double from Truman. Konner Nelson then hit a sacrifice fly to left field, scoring Moore. Miles Murphy added another run with a single to left field, bringing home Truman.
  • Hope International's Big Innings: The Royals had significant scoring bursts in the third, fifth, and sixth innings. Notably, in the sixth inning, T. Boston hit a grand slam, contributing to a seven-run inning that put the game out of reach for the Eagles.
  • Embry-Riddle's Efforts: Despite the scoreline, the Eagles showed resilience. Nelson had a solid performance with two hits and an RBI. Murphy also contributed with a hit and an RBI.
