Ramos Pitches Another Gem

Prescott-Junior Livi Ramos pitched another gem today, striking out seven and leading The Eagles to a 3-1 victory against Cal Pac rival La Sierra University.

Ramos was dominant in the first inning striking out the side. She continued her dominance through the next three innings and La Sierra did not record their first hit until the top of the fifth on a single up the middle by Sierra Singer. The Golden Eagles Sarai Camachothrew well allowing only two hits through the first three innings but The Eagles were able to strike first in the bottom fourth. Taylor Szathmary reached on the error by the shortstop Ross and was moved to second on the single down third base by Sam Nelson. Elyssa Bramerreached on a bobble by third baseman Melanie Vidaurri while trying to force out Szathmary at the base. With the bases loaded MakenzieHospodkapulled the ball down third base line scoring Szathmary and Nelson on an error by Vidaurri to give The Eagles a 2-0 lead.

La Sierra pushed their first run in the top of the 6th by playing small ball. Taylor Gimondoa singled to shallow left and advanced on a wild pitch by Ramos. The lead off batter Beavides bunted for a base hit, advancing Gimondo. Then shortstop Ross put a bunt down first base for the squeeze and the only run for La Sierra.

The Eagles answered back in the bottom of the sixth when Makenzie Hospodkadoubled a shot to deep right center that just missed going over the fence. Ramos then helped her own cause with a single in right center to score Hospodka and bring the score to 3-1.

La Sierra came back from the game one loss and scored fourteen runs on fourteen hits and five Embry-Riddle errors. The Eagles could only muster four hits in game two for the 14-1 loss.

Embry-Riddle will host La Sierra again tomorrow at 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM.
