LAKE ELSINORE, Calif. -- Mikaeli Davidson led the charge for Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Ariz.) softball as she threw a complete game shutout against No. 1 Southern Oregon University, 2-0 on Friday. ERAU (2-5) could not sneak out another upset though as they lost to Vanguard University in extras, 2-1.

Southern Oregon:

It was Davidson through and through for the Eagles as she shutdown the best team in the country. The sophomore could not be touched as she gave up only two hits through seven innings of work. Haley Basye hit a solo shot in the second inning to get ERAU up, before Carly Carlsen delivered a clutch RBI single in the sixth.

Vanguad:

Once again it was Basye providing the fireworks for the Eagles. She evened up the score in the sixth inning with her third dinger of the season. Carlsen was brilliant for the birds all day. She gave up an unearned run in the second inning and shutdown the Lions the rest of the day. ERAU had a chance to score first in the international tie-breaker but failed to convert. Vanguard walked it off in the eighth.

ERAU plays once again at the NAIA Classic Saturday.
