Box Score 2 TUCSON, Ariz. – Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Ariz.) split their two games on the third day of the Tucson Invitational Games with Dakota State, L 4-3, and Aquinas, W 5-2. Mikaeli Davidson (SO/Tempe, Ariz.) and Haley Basye (JR/Tucson, Ariz.) powered the offense blasting two homeruns in their win.
Game one against the DSU was a tight one. After the Eagles gave up one in the first Kate Delaney (FR/Fort Collins, Colo.) and Basye scored to get ahead. The Eagles took advantage of another error in the second inning to score the final run of the game.
After 3.1 innings Carly Carlsen (SR/Littleton, Colo.) was moved to the outfield after giving an unearned run. Delaney came in to close the game out but two runs scored in the fifth and it was all tied once again. The freshman pitched well but another unearned run cost the Eagles the game.
Game two was a bit different as the Eagles came out swinging early. Basye would launch her fifth homerun of the year with her two run jack in the first. Davidson added hers in back-to-back fashion to get the Eagles a strong lead. Basye finished the day 2-3 with 2 RBI.
Davidson was electric in the circle. She threw a complete game scattering four hits and punching out eight batters. The sophomore has been the Eagles go to pitcher in big games this season and has five wins under her belt already.
The Eagles finish their stint at the TIG on Tuesday with another double header.
