Box Score 2 PRESCOTT, ARIZ. – The Embry-Riddle softball team continued its dominance in the Cal Pac on Friday, sweeping a doubleheader against Park-Gilbert. The 24th-ranked Eagles won 6-2 to start the day, then posted a 2-0 shutout to close out the afternoon.
Game 1: #24 Embry-Riddle 6, Park-Gilbert 2
All but one of the game's runs were scored in the second inning, as the teams found its offense early on. After the Buccaneers scored a pair of runs to start the frame, the 24th-ranked Eagles answered back with five of their own.
Jaden Espinoza had the big hit of the inning, as she drilled a two-RBI double into right field. Emma Almodoba also had an RBI single as the Eagles had six of its ten hits during the second inning.
Rachel Hammons and Mikaeli Davidson each finished with two hits, and Davidson scored a run. Eight different players recorded a hit during the day's first contest.
Both of the runs allowed by Davidson were unearned, as she posted yet another complete-game win. She allowed just four hits through seven innings and struck out six.
Game 2: #24 Embry-Riddle 2, Park-Gilbert 0
The Eagles book-ended its runs in the final game, scoring once in the first inning and adding another in the sixth. Maddie Judge had an RBI single to open the scoring, then Lily Anderson drove in the game's final run in the sixth with a single of her own.
While the Eagles scored just twice, they did get on base often. The team had ten hits, walked once, and were hit by a pitch once to get twelve runners on.
Once again, eight different ERAU batters had hits, just like in game one of the day. Each of the Eagles top four hitters in the lineup recorded a hit, and Davidson and Anderson each had a pair.
Vanessa Brink picked up her 18th win of the season, the third-most wins without a loss in the NAIA. Brink struck out seven while allowing just three hits and did not walk a batter.
The Eagles will return to the field one final time in the regular season on Sunday as they host Park-Gilbert in another doubleheader. First pitch of Senior Day is scheduled for 11 a.m.
