Box Score 2 PRESCOTT, Ariz. – Offense was the name of the game for the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Ariz.) softball team as the Eagles combined to score 21 runs on 28 hits as they scored 8-0 and 13-4 wins over La Sierra in a California Pacific Conference doubleheader., with both games ending after five innings due to the eight-run rule. Senior Jenna Sumpter (Ahwatukee, Ariz.) had a home run in game one, with sophomore Lily Anderson (Flagstaff, Ariz.) and freshman Leah Salas (Sahuarita, Ariz.) connecting in game two.
Game 1
Sumpter's shot resulted in the first runs of the first game, when her fly to right with two aboard just crossed the fence fair, giving Embry-Riddle the 3-0 lead.
ERAU put it away with five more in the fourth. Freshman Anise Romo (Waddell, Ariz.) led off with a single and came around to score on a double by senior Diana Miranda Montano (Tucson, Ariz.). The ball got past the left fielder allowing all three runs to score and Marquez to reach third. Junior Jaden Espinoza (Tucson, Ariz.) then plated Marquez with a single to center.
That was all the run support that sophomore Vanessa Brink (Vail, Ariz.) would need in the circle. She picked up the victory, allowing just three hits over her five innings, striking out six without issuing a walk.
Game 2
After being shutout in the first game, La Sierra found some offense in the first inning of game two, taking advantage of a pair of errors to score three times on five hits. The Golden Eagle lead did not last long, as Embry-Riddle answered with seven in the bottom half of the frame. Senior Kate Delaney (Fort Collins, Colo.) started the scoring with a two-run triple and then scored the tying run on an RBI single by freshman Autumn Sulusi (Kaneohe, Hawai'i). Junior Meredith Tutrone (Scottsdale, Ariz.), Romo, and Miranda Montano added RBI hits to make it 7-3.
Salas and Anderson connected for their home runs, both solo shots, in the second to make it a 9-4 game. The Eagles then put it away with four more in the third, highlighted by freshman Katie Jamieson's (Tucson, Ariz.) two-run double to right that made it 13-4.
Freshman Claire Streeter (San Marino, Calif.) started and gave up eight hits in three innings, but just two earned runs to pick up the win. Junior Marissa Sanchez (Denver, Colo.) tossed the final two innings for the Eagles, giving up just one hit and a walk.
