Box Score 2 PRESCOTT, Ariz. – A pair of one-hit pitching performances led the way for the Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) softball team as the Eagles swept a California Pacific Conference doubleheader from Benedictine-Mesa. Sophomore Vanessa Brink (Vail, Ariz.) gave up one-hit in a 2-0 game one win for the Eagles, while freshman Claire Streeter (San Marino, Calif.) did the same in game two, a 9-0, five-inning decision.
Game 1
Brink was outstanding in her start in the first game, going all the way to record her seventh win of the season. She gave up just one hit over her six innings, striking out eight without issuing a walk.
Brink received all the run support that she would need in the first when senior Kate Delaney (Fort Collins, Colo.) tripled in senior Diana Miranda Montano (Tucson, Ariz.), who had doubled. The Eagles added their other run in the third when Miranda Montano doubled, move up on a base hit, and then scored on a sac fly by freshman Autumn Sulusi (Kaneohe, Hawai'i).
Delaney then tossed the final inning to pick up her first save of the season.
Game 2
Embry-Riddle struck early in the second contest, getting three in the first. With two away, ERAU put two aboard for Sulusi, who singled in a pair. Freshman Katie Jamieson (Tucson, Ariz.) then doubled to make it 3-0.
That was all the help that Streeter would need as she gave up just one hit over four innings, striking out five. Junior Marissa Sanchez (Denver, Colo.) finished it off with a perfect fifth inning.
In the third ERAU struck for four more to put the game out of reach. Sulusi started things off with an RBI single before sophomore Lily Anderson (Flagstaff, Ariz.) connected for a two-run home run. Freshman Anise Romo (Waddell, Ariz.) then capped it off with an RBI double. The Eagles then struck for two-more in the fourth to set up the five-inning win. Miranda Montano homered for one of the runs before Sulusi drove in her fifth run of the afternoon with a single to center.
