Box Score 2 PRESCOTT, Ariz. – A season best win streak for the Embry-Riddle softball team was extended to 14 games today as the Eagles swept a non-conference doubleheader against Menlo. ERAU took game 5-1 before putting an 11-hit attack together for an 11-2 victory in game 2. Freshman Leah Salas (Sahuarita, Ariz. ) went a combined 4-for-6 with five RBI for the Eagles.
Game 1
Salas started the scoring for Embry-Riddle in the first inning with a one-out RBI double, with senior Kate Delaney (Fort Collins, Colo.) bringing Salas in with a single for a quick 2-0 lead. Freshman Katie Jamieson (Tucson, Ariz.) picked up a bunt RBI single in the third to make it 3-0 before Menlo pushed across a run in the fourth to make it a one-run contest.
Salas matched the Menlo run in the bottom half of the fourth with her second RBI double of the game before freshman Autumn Sulusi (Kaneohe, Hawai'i) put an insurance run on the board with an RBI base hit in the sixth.
Sophomore Vanessa Brink (Vail, Ariz.) started and went six innings, scattering five hits and giving up just the one run while striking seven to pick up her ninth win of the season.
Game 2
Embry-Riddle finished things off early in the second contest, scoring all its runs over the first two innings. In the first the Eagles banged out five hits and drew two walks, scoring six times. As she did in the first game Salas started things off with an RBI single and sophomore Lily Anderson (Flagstaff, Ariz.) slugged a three-run home run to highlight the uprising.
In the second ERAU used the long ball to put the game away, hitting three over the fence. Salas and Sulusi connected on two-run bombs, while Anderson added a solo shot to make it 11-0.
From there the Embry-Riddle pitching did the rest. Freshman Claire Streeter (San Marino, Calif.) started and picked up her 11th win of the season, going four innings in the five-inning contest and surrendering two hits and a run while striking out three.
