Embry-Riddle dropped their first game of the season to Vanguard, but came back in a big way as the Eagles earned a 5 inning run rule victory over Carroll College at the Arizona Christian softball field in Phoenix, Ariz. 

Game 1

In their first game of the season, Embry-Riddle struggled to hit as they were shutout 5-0 by the Lions of Vanguard University. 

Sam Holbert (Gilbert, Ariz.) recorded the first ERAU hit as she singled to left field in the top of the 1^st inning, but the Eagle offense was unable to produce any more hits.  In the bottom of the first inning, Vanguard scored one run on three hits and took a 1-0 lead. 

Neither team had much going in the 2^nd or 3^rd inning, but Embry-Riddle got another hit in the 4^th inning.  Diana Miranda Montano (Tucson, Ariz.) hit a single to left field.  In the bottom of the 4^th Vanguard added four more runs on four hits and led 5-0 after the 4^th inning. 

In the top of the 5^th, Emma Almodoba (Tucson, Ariz.) recorded her first hit of the season for the Eagles, but ERAU was unable to string any hits together. 

Vanessa Brink (Vail, Ariz.) pitched all six innings for Embry-Riddle in the loss as she struck out six Lions. 

Game 2

In the Eagles second game of the day, the bats came alive for Embry-Riddle as they earned a 9-1 run rule win over Carroll College in five innings. 

After holding the Saints to no hits in the top of the 1^st inning, ERAU came out swinging in the bottom half.  With one out, Anise Romo (Waddell, Ariz.) hit a double to left field and Diana Miranda Montano (Tucson, Ariz.) followed Romo's double with a single.  Kate Delaney (Fort Collins, Colo.) recorded the first RBI as Romo scored on her ground ball.  With a runner on second, Lily Anderson (Flagstaff, Ariz.) hit an infield single to move Montano to third base.  Emma Almodoba (Tucson, Ariz.) then had her second hit of the day as she singled to right field scoring both runners.  At the end of the 1^st inning Embry-Riddle led 3-0. 

ERAU added to their lead in the bottom of the second inning. Daisy Del Rio (Gilbert, Ariz.) led off the inning with a walk and Bradee Jeffery (Manteca, Calif.) followed with a single.  When Jeffery stole second, Del Rio was able to steal home to add another run for the Eagles.  Embry-Riddle's fifth run came as Miranda Montano had another single. 

Carroll College got on the board with a run of their own in the top of the 3^rd, but ERAU got it right back in the bottom half of the inning.  Anderson walked to start the inning and then Autumn Sulusi (Kaneohe, Hawaii) hit a triple to score Anderson.  After the 3^rd inning, the Eagles were up 6-1. 

The fourth inning was a big one for Embry-Riddle as the Eagles scored three more runs on three hits.  Maddie Judge (Oro Valley, Ariz.) reached base on an error by the Saints to begin the inning.  Romo hit a single with advanced Judge to second.  With two runners on, Anderson hit a triple to right field for two RBIs and Almodoba followed with a single to plate Anderson and after the 5^th inning ERAU led 9-1. 

Claire Streeter (San Marino, Calif.) earned the win as she pitched 5 innings only giving up two hits and one earned run.
