Box Score 1 |
Box Score 2 Embry-Riddle won two more Cal Pac games on a windy Saturday afternoon in Prescott beating Park-Gilbert 12-5 in the first game and earning the four game sweep with a 7-3 win in the second game of the day.
Game 1
Embry-Riddle jumped in front right away in the bottom of the first inning as Leah Salas (Tucson, Ariz.) hit a double and Jade Bayless (Redondo Beach, Calif.) added a single. Both were able to score on a single by Autumn Sulusi (Kaneohe, Hawaii).
The Eagles added two more runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning as Meredith Tutrone (Scottsdale, Ariz.) led off with a single followed by a single from Bradee Jeffery (Manteca, Calif.). Maddie Judge (Oro Valley, Ariz.) hit an infield single to load the bases for Salas. Salas hit a single for her second hit of the day and both Jeffery and Tutrone were able to score and after two innings ERAU led 4-0.
Just like the first two innings, Embry-Riddle scored two more runs in the bottom of the third inning. Sulusi reached on an error followed by a walk from Emma Almodoba (Tucson, Ariz.). Alexus Marquez (Las Vegas, Nev.) pinch ran for Sulusi and stole third. Marquez was able to score when Tutrone reached on an error. The second Eagle run came when Salas was hit by a pitch with the bases still loaded.
A triple by Sam Holbert (Gilbert, Ariz.) scored Sulusi who had reached earlier in the bottom of the 4th on a single.
Park scored five runs in the top of the 5th on four hits to get within two with the score 7-5.
Embry-Riddle got their runs back in the bottom of the 6th inning. Almodoba started the inning as she reached on an error followed by a single by pinch hitter Jaden Espinoza (Tucson, Ariz.). Tutrone then hit a triple to right field to score both baserunners. Judge then hit a triple to plate Tutrone. Judge scored on a single by Diana Miranda Montano (Tucson, Ariz.). Bayless had her second hit of the game, this time a double that allowed Miranda Montano to score and after six innings, Embry-Riddle led 12-5. After the Buccaneers couldn't score in the top of the 7th, ERAU won with that same score.
Kate Delaney (Fort Collins, Colo.) earned the win as she started and pitched well for the first four innings. Vanessa Brink (Vail, Ariz.) came in and earned the save for ERAU.
Game 2
The second game of the day was much closer as the game was tied until the Eagles scored three runs in the bottom of the 4th on their way to the 7-3 win.
Neither team scored until the bottom of the 2nd when Tutrone hit a solo homerun to give ERAU a 1-0 advantage.
In the top of the 3rd inning, Park took their first lead of the series as they scored two runs, but Embry-Riddle answered in the bottom of the 3rd as Miranda Montano hit the ball to deep right field and was able to make it all the way around the bases for an inside the park homerun.
ERAU added three more runs in the bottom of the 4th for some insurance. Camille Graham (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) started the Eagle rally with a single and Tatum Chestnut (Peoria, Ariz.) followed with a single of her own. Graham advanced to second on a passed ball and scored on a groundout by Judge. Another hit by Miranda Montano plated both Chestnut and Bayless and after four innings, Embry-Riddle led 5-2.
The Eagles added another run in both the 5th and 6th innings and went on to win 7-3.
Claire Streeter (San Marino, Calif.) earned the win for the Eagles as she struck out six Buccaneers.
