Box Score 2 Embry-Riddle won two games against Arizona Christian on Wednesday afternoon winning the first 6-1 and the second 9-5.
Game 1
A big first inning propelled the Eagles to the game one victory. After Maddie Judge (Oro Valley, Ariz.) reached on an error to begin the game, Leah Salas (Sahuarita, Ariz.) knocked her in with a two run homerun. Jade Bayless (Redondo Beach, Calif.) then hit a triple to right field. One batter later Bayless scored on a single by Emma Almodoba (Tucson, Ariz.). Meredith Tutrone (Scottsdale, Ariz.) hit the second homerun of the inning to bring home the last two runs and after one inning, the Eagles led 5-0.
ACU scored one run in the top of the 6th inning, but Tutrone answered with a solo homerun to get the run right back for ERAU. The Eagles went on to win the first game 6-1.
Vanessa Brink (Vail, Ariz.) and Kate Delaney (Fort Collins, Colo.) each pitched three innings for Embry-Riddle. Both pitchers gave up just two hits on the day.
Game 2
Claire Streeter (San Marino, Calif.) earned the win in the second game pitching five innings and striking out five.
Just like game one, Embry-Riddle jumped out in front in the first inning. Judge was walked and then Lily Anderson (Flagstaff, Ariz.) hit a single. After a fielder's choice left runners at first and second, the back to back Cal Pac player of the week Autumn Sulusi (Kaneohe, Hawaii) hit a single to center field to bring home Anderson. A walk by Bayless loaded the bases for Almodoba who hit an RBI single to centerfield. The next batter, Delaney, hit a double to left field to bring home Bayless and Sulusi. ERAU took a 4-0 lead after the first inning.
Sulusi earned another RBI in the bottom of the 2nd as she knocked in Anderson to make the score 5-0.
The Firestorm scored three runs in the top of the 3rd inning, however the Eagles answered right away in the bottom half of the inning with four runs on four hits to make the score 9-3.
ACU got one more run in the top of the 5th inning and another in the 7th, but ERAU went on to win 9-5.
Up next, Embry-Riddle will be playing in the Cal Pac Conference Tournament beginning May 1st right here in Prescott at Eagle Softball Field.
