Box Score 2 Embry-Riddle dropped the first game of their double header with La Sierra 2-1 before coming back to beat the Golden Eagles in game two by a score of 12-2 in Riverside on Sunday afternoon.
Game 1
ERAU outhit LSU but were unable to string any hits together in the 2-1 loss.
La Sierra took the early 2-0 lead over the Eagles after four innings of play. Embry-Riddle scored one run in the top of the 6th inning as Emma Almodoba (Tucson, Ariz.) hit a triple down the right field line. Following Almodoba's triple, Sam Holbert (Gilbert, Ariz.) was hit by a pitch. When Holbert stole second, Almodoba was able to score to make the score 2-1. Unfortunately that was all the Eagles could manage to score in their game one loss.
Game 2
Embry-Riddle jumped on top in the first game as the Eagles scored three runs in the top of the 1st inning. Maddie Judge (Oro Valley, Ariz.) reached first and was able to advance to second after a defensive miscue by LSU. Diana Miranda Montano (Tucson, Ariz.) then hit a single followed by a walk by Kate Delaney (Fort Collins, Colo.) to load the bases. A single by Jaden Espinoza (Tucson, Ariz.) scored both Judge and Miranda Montano to put ERAU up 2-0. A double by Autumn Sulusi (Kaneohe, Hawaii) brought in the third Embry-Riddle run of the inning as Delaney was able to score.
ERAU added another run in the top of the 2nd inning as Judge got things started with a single. A single down the left field line by Miranda Montano followed by a walk from Delaney loaded the bases. Espinoza was hit by a pitch to make the score 4-0 Eagles.
A six run 3rd inning gave ERAU a 10-0 lead. Sulusi began the inning with a walk followed by a single by Alexus Marquez (Las Vegas, Nev.) to put runners on first and second. Bradee Jeffery (Manteca, Calif.) sacrifice bunted both runners over and Judge loaded the bases with a walk. Lily Anderson (Flagstaff, Ariz.) picked up two RBIs with a single to make the score 6-0. A triple by Miranda Montano cleared the bases and gave Embry-Riddle the 8-0 advantage but the Eagles weren't done yet. Delaney was once again walked and Espinoza reached on another single that brought in Miranda Montano. A single by Almodoba brought in the last run of the inning for ERAU as Delaney crossed the plate.
After Jeffery singled to begin the 4th inning, Anderson, and Leah Salas (Sahuarita, Ariz.) both followed with walks to load the bases. Holbert and Daisy Del Rio (Gilbert, Ariz.) both followed with walks as the Eagles brought two more across the plate and took a 12-0 lead.
La Sierra was able to score two runs in the bottom of the 5th inning, but ERAU held on for the 12-2 run rule victory.
Embry-Riddle will return to Prescott as they host Simpson on Wednesday for a Cal Pac double header with the first game beginning at 2pm.
